What we cover, and what we don't.
Every Olympus dataset is published in validated releases from a registered public source. This page lists each source, the release it reflects and its known limits. The API reports the same information for each response.
Live status: GET /v1/geo-demographics/coverage returns each Geographic & Demographics dataset's active publication, freshness, vintage and record counts. Every response from both APIs lists the publications it read in meta.datasets, with freshness: fresh | stale.

Known limits
- ZCTAs are not ZIP codes. PO-box-only, single-building, military and other non-residential ZIP codes have no ZCTA, and a ZIP and the ZCTA with the same code rarely cover exactly the same addresses. Codes are matched exactly. A code with no ZCTA returns
404 ZCTA_NOT_FOUND. - Estimates, not counts. ACS values are survey estimates with 90% margins of error (
moe). They describe the five-year period and are not current figures. Derived percentages have no published margin of error. - Suppressed values. When the Census Bureau publishes an annotation instead of an estimate,
valueis null andnull_reasonexplains why. - County overlaps use 2020 counties. Connecticut's ACS 2022+ planning regions (
09110to09190) have no ZCTA overlaps in the 2020 relationship file. - School ZCTA assignment is approximate. It uses the school's USPS location ZIP. Distances are straight-line from the ZCTA internal point.

- Flood or other risk scores
- Parcel-level decisions
- Private schools
- Predictive scores

Known limits
- As filed. Values are what registrants reported in XBRL. Nothing is estimated, derived, scaled or corrected, and amounts are in whole units, not thousands.
- Restatements. When a later filing reports a different value for the same period, the latest value is served with
is_restated: trueand the first reported value. - Quarterly data. Q1 to Q3 come from 10-Q filings. There is no Q4 filing, so Q4 can only be inferred from the annual value. Year-to-date values are flagged with
is_ytd. - Concept mapping. Each metric maps to specific XBRL concepts. The concept used is returned with every value. A company that reports none of them returns an empty series.

- Insider trading (Forms 3/4/5) and ownership
- Analyst recommendations or estimates

How a release is published
Pipelines stage each source snapshot and run the dataset's required checks: row counts, unique record IDs, required fields, format and bounds checks. A release becomes active only if every check passes, and only from a source that has passed our admission review of its licence and terms. Records that didn't change keep their original published_at, so you can see what changed between releases.
